TES IV Oblivion: The Shivering Isles
It's almost like taking a drug trip...not that I would know or anything...
This is the second honest to God expansion pack. It gives you roughly 30 hours of new game play, a large area to explore and a ton of new quests, items, and Alchemy ingredients.
The Shivering Isles is a place of pure madness. The land is split in two, the beautiful and almost serene Mania, and the dark and dank of Dementia. The relm is ruled by the Daedric Prince of Madness, Sheogorath, and lemme tell you, he lives up to his title.
Depending on whether or not you're starting a new game or resuming a previous game, you'll hear about a strange door opening off the coast of one ot the towns in Cyrodill either after you've been released into the Sewers (For new characters), or after just a few min of running around the land (Loading a previous save.) Either way you'll get a new quest to investigate.
Upon arriving you'll most definately see a strange door, and one of the locals that seemed to have wandered inside, and lost her mind. After talking to the posted guard, you'll find that it just appeared myseriously over night, and that everyone that's ventured inside has come back "wrong" You won't have to wait long to find out what he's talking about, soon another person steps out of the door claiming that the place is impossible, then proceed to attack the guard. Shortly after you'll hear the Prince of Madness himself speak to you, and tell you that you should visit the Isles.

Oh crap....which set of eyes do I look into?
So, being that you're an adventurer and all, after stepping through the door, you'll see that you've just walked into another room, with a very stuffy man sitting in a chair. He'll offer you a seat and then you'll converse and do the information gathering game. Once you've told him that you'll enter the relm, he'll disappear, and the room disolves in an incountable number of butterflies, and you'll see for yourself, what the man had been sayin.
There's alot of choice making in the Shivering Isles, at one point you'll find yourself either causing some Adventurers, that have managed to gain access to the isles, to lose thier minds in some pretty fun ways, or just outright causing them to die a most painful death. Others will have you chose between Dementia or Mania. Neither really has much impact on the story, so you don't have to feel like you're being either good or evil (if such a thing bothers you).
The expansion adds even more characters to interact with, each with differing and varying levels of insanity. I'd give examples, but I think it's best to be heard for yourself.
Unfortunately, the Expansion seems, at least to me, to be a little bit missing. I mean, there's plenty of dungeons, caves, ruins, and old forts to explore in the main game that it makes the Shivering Isles feel empty. That's not to say that there's not interesting places, or plenty of stuff to explore it's just after a while of playing, you'll find yourself heading back to Tamriel.
All and all this is a solid expansion, no Oblivion fan should be without. It'll keep you entertained if for nothing esle, just hearing how insane everyone is. If you've got Oblivion, and loved the main game, this will be a great addition to an already stunning game.
Till next time,
Vangle
