This one is Koji's one and only text review, we soon decided to try video format....which is what we're going to do from now on.
The film starts off with a bang. The opening shot tightens in on the side of an office building or something like that then all of a sudden BLASKILDVBHASEKRVBASEKRVGHBALSCGFZALKSJXFDVAKLEVGKASJDBGFAJKE
well, maybenot quite like that, but you do see one of the windows blow out. then after a lengthy bank robbery, (during which, under the orders of the Joker, every member of the bank robby team...thing... betrays each other) you see the joker take off his clown mask, (BTW, did I forget to mention that the bank robby team was all wearing different clown masks?) and makes a semi-dramatic escape in a school bus which busted through the banks front doors for the get-away.
The next scene shows the Bat-signal lit, and Gorden is talking to another cop about why Batman doesn't always show up. Not necissarily needed in my opinion, but it does set up the next scene very well. It's has a group of mobsters showing up in a parking structure to talk to their drug supplier, who is none other than Dr. Crane, otherwise known as The Scarecrow. The meeting is cut short by what appears to be Batman, but is in fact one of a group of copy-cat vigilantes dressed up like Batman, which doesn't make any sense to me because I hunted high and low for a good quality Batman mask, and couldn't find any anywhere, and I'm just supposed to believe that a group of guys found them on the side of the road or something? I mean seriously, I looked on Ebay for like half an hour trying to find one, where the hell did those guys get theirs? It pisses me of th................................. nevermind. Back to the review!
So after a series of events, Batman shows up and catches Crane, ties up the copy-cats with the FUCKING MASKS I'VE BEEN HUNTING FOR FOR........ sorry....... and promptly leaves. He decides he needs a new suit because the one he has kinda screwed him between movies. In Batman Begins, he can turn his head, but in T.D.K., he for some reason he couldn't. (the copy-cats cou........... fucking mask) So he gives a new suit design to his good buddy Lucious Fox.
It's hard for me not to just type about everything in the movie, because I am a big fan. I could sit here for hours just explaining every little thing in it, but that would take too much time..... and I'm lazy.
I would like to say however that the pencil trick, (The scene after the one I just told you about.) and the "Why So Serious?" scene were my two favourite scenes out of the entire movie, because it shows just how insane the Joker really was. I would also like to add that Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker was better than Jack Nicholson's in the original Batman. Yeah they were from two different eras, but at the same time, Nicholson's Joker was just an evil clown, while Ledger's was as he was in the comics, insane.
It was difficult for me to find flaws with this movie because I liked it so much, But I wouldn't be a good reviewer if I didn't at least try, and when I looked for them, I found them. For one thing, in the begining of the movie, why did no one notice that the bus carrying the Joker just pulled out of a busted up bank? I mean, i understand that it's just a movie, but you think that the police would have noticed the dust and debris falling off of the damn thing......... must be Eaton cops............... Another thing was that I feel they needed the original girl who played Rachel Dawes. Don't get me wrong, Maggie Gyllenhall (I don't care if I spelled it right) is a kinda-of passible actress, but the way she potrayed Rachel was as a bitch. There's no way she was that big of an ass in B.B. I liked that they put in Two-face, and they did a great job on the design and the C.G. of his face, but at the same time, I feel that three villans (even though Scarecrow was only in it for like four minutes) is too many villans for one movie......... which is one of the reasons Spider-man 3 sucked so bad. I mean don't get me wrong, but they should have made him the main villan in a sequal. Also, Two-Face was very whiney in T.D.K. What happened to him being a cold and calculating villan like he's supposed to be? The final showdown between Batman and Two-Face was a bit anti-climactic. After a bit of talking and one gunshot, it was over. Needless to say i was a tad disappointed. Add to all of that the fact that half the time you couldn't understand Batman because Christian Bale decided that he needed to start using Vick's throat spray or something, and it may seem like the movie is not worth watching, but I promise you, it's pros FAR outweigh it's cons.
All in all I can't complain a whole lot about it, It's a solid film with just enough action, drama and comedy in it without being too over-the-top (for a comic book based movie). I would definatly recommend it to fans of Batman, or anyone whos just wants to see a good movie.
Thanks for listening children, and now for a special message, don't feed the Yao-guai! That is all.
